Nye Veier is the project owner, and Anne Stine Johnson, Head of Technology and Sciences, opened the meeting with the following words:

“The Green Platform is a good example of how we want to work in the coming years. In our view, this cooperation is unique in the Norwegian construction industry. If we manage this together, the entire industry will take a big step in the right direction in the climate field. Together we will ensure that the impact of our work in this project is greater than the sum of the individual contributions individually.

Innovation Norway, the Swedish Research Council and SIVA provide support through the Green Platform for research- and innovation-driven green transformation in the business sector. They are looking for collaborative consortia that can deliver the best projects, from research and technology development, through to ready-made solutions. The Sustainable Road Construction project came together with 10 other projects through the needle eye in 2022 and triggered NOK 68.5 million.

“We need a boost in the construction industry, and you have a chance to change the way we build roads, and also to spread the solutions beyond Norway's borders. If anyone is going to pull this off, it has to be you. We are looking forward to following the project,” said Jon Arne Rasmussen, customer advisor at Innovasjon Norge Agder, who represented Grønn platform at Gardermoen.

“Over the course of three years, we will pilot at least 10 new solutions that will not only contribute to more sustainable road construction and reduced greenhouse gas emissions, they also have great potential for industrialization and export,” says Helen Roth, project manager for the Sustainable Road Construction project and general manager of VIA.

The consortium consists of 17 partners from across the value chain: Nye Veier AS, Bertelsen & Garpestad AS, Eramet Norway AS, Foamrox AS, Future Materials Katapultsenter, Norconsult AS, NTNU, Roxel Infra AS, Rygene-Smith & Thommesen AS, Saferock AS, SINTEF, Skanska Norge AS, Statens vegvesen, Universitetet i Agder, Veidekke Industri AS, Velde Industri AS and VIA.

VIA looks forward to three exciting years with a forward-thinking and knowledgeable team!
