Smart, safe and sustainable mobility for all was the theme of Intertraffic 2024 in Amsterdam. For the first time, VIA participated in the fair, which is one of the world's largest and brings together business and policy makers from all over the world.

Intertraffic Amsterdam has a long history of identifying trends, launching new solutions and promoting cutting-edge technological innovations. This year's edition, which was the largest ever, had over 900 exhibitors — both public and private organizations. The fairgrounds were divided into 13 halls, and covered an area as large as 12 football fields.

Participants also had the opportunity to attend more than 125 professional sessions of the Intertraffic Summit & Demonstration Programme over the course of the event. Around 35,000 representatives from business, cities and regions in approximately 140 countries attended to learn more about trends and news and to build networks.

VIA with for the first time

It was the first time VIA attended the fair and it has definitely lived up to expectations.

“Here we really get a good overview of the very latest innovations in transport and infrastructure. The goal is to learn more about new solutions that contribute to increased road safety, improved accessibility and also contribute positively to solving climate challenges,” says Helen Roth, CEO of VIA.

Together with a number of members and partners, including the Nordic+ family, ITS Norway, Aventi, Nye Veier, Troms County Municipality, Brødre Dahl, Phoenix Contact, Saferoad and Navtech Radar, VIA had taken a place among renowned companies and organizations such as Swarco, EasyPark, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Uber and Capgemini.

Networking in focus

Terje Hundere, General Manager of Aventi Group, describes the days at Intertraffic Amsterdam as busy and eventful. It broke loose on Tuesday afternoon with the presentation of the company on the stand of Nordic+, and then it went blow by blow.

“We have brought with us part of what the fair has to offer, but most of the time has been spent on meetings,” he says.

Intertraffic Amsterdam 2024 was a unique opportunity to explore the future of mobility, share best practices and establish partnerships. Focusing on climate resilience, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT) and interoperable solutions, the fair set the standard for a sustainable and smart future in the transportation sector.
